Does Cold Calling Work Without Annoying People

For people who want to STOP unsolicited telephone calls at home from marketing and sales companies you can register with the Telephone Preference Service. Once registered, if you are happy to receive telemarketing calls from some companies but not others you can contact the companies who you do not wish to hear from and ask them to remove your details from their call lists. All companies – including charities and voluntary organisations are required to respect your wishes. The Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) is responsible for the enforcement of these regulations.

Businesses now have benefit of The Corporate Telephone Preference Service (CTPS) with a central opt out register whereby corporate subscribers can register their wish not to receive unsolicited sales and marketing telephone calls to either all their organisation’s telephone numbers, or to certain numbers. It is a legal requirement that companies do not make such calls to numbers registered on the (CTPS).

A cold call has never been something a business looks forward to receiving especially now in such a modern world where information on services and money saving advice is freely available through searching online. This is replacing the need to take sales calls even if it might have value.

These days’ most businesses are up to date with technology and can make choices themselves without having to take a cold call that’s why so many businesses block them and have introduced no names policy and put the answer machines on, it just gets confusing for companies to spot real opportunity when there are so many sales calls. Recently I did an article about the advantages of “Consolidating Office Supplies” a keyword many financial directors search for when looking to reduce costs with office related products. If you were selling this concept via cold calling you would receive many NO THANKS. The most effective way of getting results is for people to read at their leisure, they often even pass it on if it has value.
