High street retailers are responding in force as more and more people are shopping around for the best bargain in the build-up to Christmas.
Top brands are reacting strongly to consumer shopping habits by offering a greater number of incentives such as discounts on products, free delivery or spot sales for a limited period only. Whether it’s fashion, holidays, leisure or entertainment, deals and discounts are at an all time high.
The number of early bird offers, discounts and spot sales being offered online has shot up in the last 12 months as retailer’s battle it out to win back consumer confidence. The number of spot sales – limited period sales that are announced at short notice – has hit one per day in the last three months alone, according to Netvouchercodes.co.uk.
Steve Barnes, managing director of the voucher code website, which has a database of over 1200 retailers, including Tesco, Amazon and Expedia, commented: “Retailers are really wising up to buyer behaviour. Increasingly, they’re recognising that in order that to clinch a sale they must offer better value and added incentives.
“Retailers understand that voucher code websites, comparison sites and incentive schemes are perfect vehicles. As a result, visitor numbers on our website have risen by over 300 per cent, compared to this time last year.”
Online shoppers are becoming savvier than ever before as they try and save hundreds of pounds with money-off, free gifts and multi-purchase offers. Gone are the days of rummaging through clothes racks to find a real bargain; shoppers are now sifting through comparison pages and discount sites in order to bag the best deals.
A recent survey of 1,000 online shoppers – conducted by Netvouchercodes.co.uk – has revealed that consumers spend longer trying to find the right product, with eight out of 10 people admitting that they won’t accept the first price when shopping on the web. The internet is now becoming more like a bustling marketplace as consumers haggle their way from site to site.
The poll highlighted the changing shopping habits of consumers as people adapt to the tougher economic climate. According to the survey, people now trawl through an average of six different websites before making their choice, with comparison websites and voucher codes proving the most popular methods of scooping the best deal.
